Disney's CEO Bob Iger confirmed in a recent earnings call that a sequel to the hit animated film "Zootopia" is in the works. This exciting news has added to the speculation surrounding the potential overhaul of Dino-Rama at Disney's Animal Kingdom.
Disney Parks Chairman Josh D'Amaro previously hinted at the possibility of a Zootopia makeover for Dino-Rama during last year's D23 Expo. The Walt Disney Imagineering team has now released a Blue Sky rendering that shows plans for a new spinner ride and a log-flume ride.
For those unfamiliar, Blue Sky concepts refer to projects that are under consideration and have preliminary design ideas, but have not yet been approved for actual construction. DinoLand U.S.A. currently consists of the thrill ride "Dinosaur" and the Triceratops Spin kids' ride. The Primeval Whirl coaster has been demolished, freeing up land for potential new developments.
The existing ride system of "Dinosaur" has frequently been associated with various reimagining projects that could bring a new story and intellectual property to the land. It appears that Disney may now be considering a complete makeover of DinoLand U.S.A.
Stay tuned for updates on this exciting development at Disney's Animal Kingdom, as the world eagerly awaits the arrival of the highly-anticipated Zootopia sequel.
